The Word AcademyWorkshop
Thank you for your interest in Word Academy's Workshop. I'm Michelle Mapstone, a professional secondary English teacher with 11 years of experience of teaching in mainstream education and experience of exam marking too. I have a PGCE, degree in English Literature from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and I now own a successful English tutoring business.

Word Academy's Workshop is designed to support parents to support their children with their English in the years running up to GCSE. Each day you will receive a resource that will help you to help your child through a private Facebook group:
​
MONDAYS: a literacy resource to help your child with basic to advanced literacy skills.
TUESDAYS: a task to complete that will start or continue the process of preparing your child for GCSE. This can be submitted to the group and I will comment on it.
WEDNESDAYS: a word of the week to discuss with your child.
THURSDAYS: a resource linked to English literature texts they may be studying at GCSE.
FRIDAYS: a literature quotation for us to discuss.
SATURDAYS: a text to read to include letters, leaflets, articles, web pages, extracts from recent fiction and from pre-1900 fiction and poetry.
SUNDAYS: commonly misspelled words or English key words to discuss with your child.

For just £1 per week for the 50 founding members, Word Academy's Workshop could be used as extra homework, a gentle form of tuition or to help parents who are home educating.

Cost: For the first 50 people to sign up you can get it at almost a third of the price for the whole of 2019 and 2020 - £48 per year or £4.50 per month.
